Paul Soden creates stunning bespoke handmade furniture from long standing sea groynes found along the South-East English coastline. The shapes and colours of these weathered timbers have been an inspiration to create a vast array of furniture for the home and garden.
The name Secondseed springs from the theory of wood originating from a seed. Working with reclaimed timbers gives that wood a second life in a different form: A Second Seed Creation.
The timbers, which are mainly hard woods including Oak and Purple Heart are historically significant as English sea defences are now being replaced by shingle banks and concrete breakers due to cost and environmental considerations.
Just as each tree is individual, every piece of wood is unique. It is possible to replicate furniture designs and dimensions but the exact features and characteristics will never be the same on any two pieces.
All commissions and designs are very welcome. Please feel free to contact us at any time and visit our shop and workshop in Hove.
