Second Seed, a husband and wife team, Paul and Alex, have fused a collection of Paul's original furniture designs with elegant interiors sourced from Europe to create a unique homely feel encompassing the past and present.

Paul started making furniture back in 2000. He was inspired by reclaimed timbers and architectural salvage. The name Second Seed came from the idea that timber starts as a seed and now that it is being recycled and used again it has become a second seed creation. Paul and Alex married in 2007 and relocated from Lewes to Hove. With a combined love of interiors, and a rustic, organic style it seemed logical to develop a business together combining a shop with Paul's furniture designs.

Struggling to find a workspace for Paul they stumbled upon a local empty shop with a large workshop below... the perfect home for Second Seed. In recent years Paul has showcased his work in many galleries throughout Sussex and Surrey, but here in the setting of Second Seed it sits perfectly alongside their collection of homewares and interiors.

Paul and Alex extend a warm welcome to customers and the homely feel is helped by Elvi, their Rhodesian Ridgeback, who when not greeting customers at the door, spends her days snoozing on a sheepskin rug at the front of the shop.
